Privacy and cookies

Navigation Atlas is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no forms, no advertising, no analytics scripts and no cookie banner, because the site sets no cookies.

Who is responsible

Ultra Task Pty Ltd, ABN 93 700 712 910, Gold Coast, Queensland 4226, Australia, support@ultratask.com.au. We are the controller of the personal data described below.

What we process, why, and for how long

Your display preferences
Day or night map, metres or feet, whether the latitude/longitude grid is shown and which resupply points are drawn, kept in your browser's local storage (keys na-theme, na-units, na-grid and na-resupply, which resupply kinds the map draws) so the site remembers them. They are never sent to us and stay until you clear your browser's site data.
Your boat and your saved journeys
When you plan a journey, the boat figures you enter (type, length, beam, draught, air draught, speed) are kept under the key na-boat, and the journeys you save (name, start and destination points, boat) under na-journeys, in your browser's local storage. Routes are worked out inside your browser from a data file we publish; the start and destination are not sent to us or to anyone else. A share link carries the journey in the part of the address after #, which browsers do not send to the server; whoever you give the link to can read it. Delete a saved journey from the list on the map, or clear your browser's site data to remove everything.
Technical request logs kept by our hosting provider
IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type and referring page, recorded by Google Cloud when your browser requests a page. Used to deliver the site and keep it secure. Legal basis (EU and UK GDPR): legitimate interests, art. 6(1)(f). Kept for 30 days, then deleted.
Water level readings
When you open a gauge, your browser asks Hub'Eau (hubeau.eaufrance.fr, run by the French water information service) for the latest reading, and the map background is loaded from OpenFreeMap and AWS terrain tiles. Those services receive your IP address as part of the request, under their own privacy policies. We receive nothing from these requests.
E-mails you send us
Used to reply and to correct data you report. Legal basis: legitimate interests. Kept up to 24 months after the conversation ends.

We do not sell or share personal data, do not build profiles, do not use it for advertising, and do not make automated decisions about you.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. The preferences, boat profile and saved journeys above are in local storage, which never leaves your device. No third-party scripts, fonts or embeds are loaded; the fonts are served from our own site.

Who receives data

Your rights

Depending on where you live (EU or EEA, UK, Switzerland, California and other US states, Australia) you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability. Write to support@ultratask.com.au. Because we hold almost nothing that identifies you, we may need details such as the time of your visit to find log entries, which are deleted after 30 days. You can complain to your data protection authority: in France the CNIL (cnil.fr), in the UK the ICO (ico.org.uk), in Australia the OAIC (oaic.gov.au).

California: we do not sell or share personal information and do not use sensitive personal information.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will update this notice before we change what we do (for example if we add accounts or statistics) and show the date above.
